From a single store nomination to a national movement of generosity.
For more than 5 years, The Pyjama Foundation has been proud to partner with the Myer Community Fund. Our partnership together has grown from one store’s passion into an national partnership that encourages communities across Australia to support children in care.

The Myer Community Fund, the national charity of MYER, as part of their vast array of charity work, empowers local teams to nominate charities that are meaningful to them, and make a tangible difference in the communities where they live and work. When that opportunity arose, the team at MYER Chadstone chose The Pyjama Foundation. They were deeply passionate about supporting our Love of Learning Program, recognising the powerful impact it has in helping children and young people living in out-of-home care build confidence, connection and brighter futures through education.

And from there...a magical partnership was born with the shared goal to brighten the lives of kids in care.

Shared Values, Shared Vision

Both Myer and The Pyjama Foundation share the same belief that every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, despite their fragile start.

For Lucy Hobson, Community Relations Advisor at Myer Community Fund, this shared focus on education, empowerment and community impact is central to the partnership and underpins the work of the Myer Community Fund.

“At the heart of both organisations is a belief that every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of their circumstances,”

Working closely and collaboratively together, the Myer Community Fund and The Pyjama Foundation had a shared goal to empower our community’s most disadvantaged children to help change their life trajectory. One of the highlights for Lucy and the Myer Community Fund has been seeing the partnership grow and evolve over time

“What began as a local charity partnership has scaled into a national collaboration, complete with dedicated PJF X MYER merchandise, a register round up campaign, and The Pyjama Foundation being named a major beneficiary of the Precious Metal Gala.  This growth reflects the strength of the partnership and the shared commitment to expanding impact,”

Making National Pyjama Day Magical

Each year, the strength of our partnership truly shines during our flagship fundraising campaign, National Pyjama Day. This is when communities across the nation don their comfiest PJs to support foster kids with big dreams.

Across MYER stores, team members and customers embrace the campaign with genuine enthusiasm. On the cosiest day of the year, you’ll find MYER’s’s team members dressing in pyjamas, hosting in-store activations, and sparking conversations that raise both vital funds and awareness.

For Lucy, it’s undeniable that it’s a campaign that resonates deeply and inspires meaningful participation across MYER’s stores and communities.

“What truly stands out is the genuine enthusiasm and collective spirit shown by both our team members and customers. National Pyjama Day provides a fun, engaging way to bring the campaign to life, all while raising vital funds and awareness for an incredibly important cause.”

The energy in stores, the generosity at registers, and the willingness of customers to get involved demonstrates the power of community coming together for a shared cause.

Last year, The Pyjama Foundation was honoured to be named as the major beneficiary of the Myer Community Fund’s Precious Metal Gala. Lucy emphasises how partnerships like the Precious Metal Gala play a critical role in amplifying impact.

“[These types of partnerships] bring together corporate partners and community supporters in a powerful, collective effort – generating not only vital funding, but also awareness, advocacy and long-term support. These collaborations help ensure organisations like The Pyjama Foundation can continue to scale their programs and change lives.”

For The Pyjama Foundation and our CEO, Bronwyn Sheehan, the Gala was not only an opportunity to raise critical funds for children in care, but also a powerful reminder of what is possible when corporate partners and community organisations stand side by side.

“We are so grateful for the incredible support from the Myer Precious Metal Gala. With Myer’s generosity and the community’s support, we can continue to change the life trajectory of thousands of vulnerable young people across Australia.”
