Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take donations of used books?

Thank you for your email and your generous offer to donate to us.
The Pyjama Foundation receives multiple requests for donated goods each year, and we are so thankful for this. However, due to our space limitations we unfortunately have to be selective with the donations we accept. For this reason, The Pyjama Foundation accepts only new books and games in our resource centres nationally. Books that are very worthwhile for our organisation are joke books, books by popular children’s authors, activity and sticker books. These resources will be placed in our libraries for volunteers to borrow and use within their Pyjama Angel sessions and given to children for their birthday. We love to make our kids feel special, which is why we like to ensure everything we give to the children is brand new.
If you have any further questions, please reply to this email or call our Brisbane Head Office on (07) 3256 8802.

Do you take donations of games at The Pyjama Foundation?

Thank you for your email and request for providing us with a generous donation. Yes, we do take donations of games, however we would like to have new games or very good quality second hand games to utilise in our resource libraries.
If you are providing a second hand game donation, the box should be in good condition and all pieces should be included. If a game does not have all the pieces, we unfortunately won't be able to utilise it.
Games that we really appreciate are Scrabble, Cluedo, Greed, Sequence, Yahtzee, 5 Second Rule, Sorry, Snakes and Ladders, Ker Plunk, Mancala, Jenga, Connect 4 and Apples to Apples.

Thank you for considering us for your donation.

Do you take donations of Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, etc (Long play Games)?

We are mindful that many children don't have the concentration span to play very long games and our visits are generally only an hour long.

If the game is new or in excellent condition, we are happy to try and find it a good home, otherwise we do tend to have numerous copies of games like monopoly.

Thank you for considering us for your donation.

Do you take donations of second-hand clothes at The Pyjama Foundation?

Thank you for your email and generous request around donated clothes (or clothing goods). Unfortunately, we do not take donations of second-hand clothing as we don’t have the facilities to process and distribute these.

Thank you for considering us.

Do you take donations of new clothes at The Pyjama Foundation?

Thank you for your email and generosity to provide donated clothing. At times, we do take donations of new clothing but as we have limited facilities to store and distribute goods so we need to consider if we are best placed to get this to the people that need it.

If you could kindly send a summary of the type and quantity of clothing to be donated, I can forward this to our CEO for consideration.

Thank you for thinking of us.

When we fundraise, or donate, where does the money go?

expand_more expand_less

As you may already know, our Foundation supports children in the foster care system by matching them with a dedicated community volunteer who we call a Pyjama Angel.

Together they play educational games, focusing on developing a love of learning and life skills as well as ensuring the child feels valued and loved. Our Love of Learning Program is delivering positive learning outcomes for children in the foster care system.

All funds raised goes directly to support the children in our Love of Learning Program, with all costs directly attributable to the running of our program which includes recruiting, screening, training and providing on-going support to our growing number of volunteers.

Your money also supports us with providing training kits for our volunteers, educational resources for the children as well as further training for our volunteers. We also send each child a book for their birthday and in most instances, they receive a present at Christmas.

As we currently raise 83% of our funding here in-house, it is vital to receive community support to help us continue matching and supporting many more Pyjama Angels. Thank you for your incredible support.
