Are you looking for a fun way to get active for a good cause? Bridge to Brisbane is taking place on Sunday 14th September and it’s your chance to join Team PJs by walking, jogging or running to support children in foster care. Your support this Bridge to Brisbane can help us change the lives of children in foster care.
Here is your step-by-step guide to making the most of your Bridge to Brisbane journey.
Step 1: Register to run or walk 5 or 10km this Bridge to Brisbane
Join Team PJs here. When you register, make sure to select The Pyjama Foundation as your chosen charity. This ensures your efforts directly support children and young people in out-of-home care through our Love of Learning Program.
Step 2: Personalise your fundraising page
Once you have signed up, take a few minutes to personalise your fundraising page. Add your profile picture and set your fundraising goal. Share your story and why you chose to support The Pyjama Foundation, and what your goals are. When you personalise your page, you can improve your fundraising success significantly! If you have some spare dollars, make the first donation to set the tone and show your supporters you mean business!
Step 3: Spread the word!
Let your friends, family, and followers know what you’re doing and why it matters. Share your Bridge to Brisbane journey on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and Strava. Include a link to your fundraising page with a short message about why you’re supporting us. For example, “I’m running 10km in Bridge to Brisbane to help kids in foster care build confidence and a love of learning. Support me here [insert your link]”
You can also encourage donations by suggesting an idea. Ask people to skip their coffee or takeaway and donate the cost instead. This contribution can make a life-changing impact for a young person in foster care.
Step 4: Get creative and raise funds
If you’d like to go the extra mile, you can host an event with your community. For example, morning tea after a run, and a fitness challenge with your colleagues, friends or family. It's exciting and engaging when there’s something fun to look forward to while you fundraise.
Every dollar raised helps us match more children in foster care with a dedicated volunteer Pyjama Angel mentor. Pyjama Angels visit a child for one hour every week to spend one-on-one time reading, playing educational games, and building confidence. There are hundreds of children on our waitlist hoping for their own special mentor and by joining Team PJs for Bridge to Brisbane you can help transform their lives.
“We are just very grateful to be part of this incredible Program and to have been connected to an amazing Angel. So many people have let him (Pyjama Child) down, but she has never. She is so flexible with what activities they do, adapts for his learning struggles and focuses on his strengths. She is a real cheerleader for him. We’d all be lost without her.” - Foster Carer
